When it comes to leading people to faith in Jesus, our goal as believers isn't to win arguments about the Bible but to introduce people to Jesus Christ, the living Savior who changes lives. The focus is on Jesus. When Philip met the Ethiopian eunuch, "he preached Jesus to him" (Acts 8:35). Paul told the saints in Corinth that when he came to them, he "determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified" (1 Corinthians 2:1-2). Philip and Paul's message was a person, not a program.
Let's also remember God's part. Paul put it this way: "I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth" (1 Corinthians 3:6). Our role is to speak faithfully, live consistently, and trust God to open hearts. Scripture says, "A woman named Lydia ... was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul" (Acts 16:14).
Jesus taught that our lives should support our words. He said, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). A Christlike life often prepares the way for meaningful conversations. At its heart, the gospel is simple: all have sinned (Romans 3:23), and God has provided salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). We share this hope with humility and respect, knowing that God uses both our words and our lives to point others to Christ (1 Peter 3:15).
